About the Trainer

Karin has a passion for dogs!

Since she was a child Karin has been surrounded by dogs as both guardians and playmates. Karin has always had a natural rapport with dogs and she has never feared them.

Karin has been training dogs for over 20 years, and has been an obedience instructor for 10 years. She has bred both German Shepherds and Shih Tzus, and raised many pure bred and rescue dogs.

Karin achieved her Certified Master Trainer after retiring from the business world to work fulltime with dogs. Karin also achieved her Certified Pet Dog Trainer - the only professional standard in the dog training industry.

Early in her training career, Karin realized that she has the gift to be able to train any dog to be obedient for her, however not necessarily its owner. Therefore, Karin has focused her career on training owners how to train their own dogs.

Karin's philosophy on training is based on the positive training methods of motivation, praise and correction, and the reward of affection. Food is used as a primary reinforcer, or as a lure to teach the desired behavior (not as a bribe). Karin also offers training without food, based on the requirements of each dog.

Karin teaches owners how to establish leadership (responsible parenthood) and gain respect, communicate, read body language, and teach dogs based on their temperament, drive and nerves.

In her personal time, Karin continues to train her dogs: Timber, a rescued Dutch Shepherd, and Guinness, an English Bulldog who has worked as a therapy dog and goes to schools to assist in educating children on dog bite prevention.

Karin is grateful to spend her days, evenings, and weekends working with canines and their owners to enhance their relationship.
