Initial Consultation

Karin comes to your home for the initial consultation, which is two hours in duration (for one dog). It is best to view the dog's behavior in its home environment, as well as the home, yard, and confinement area to give advice and recommendations.

Prior to the session, owners are required to complete a comprehensive Canine Behavior Questionnaire (10 pages). This allows Karin to get a good understanding of your dog, its history, care, exercise, routines, habits, behaviors - good and bad, relationship with owners, and any health issues.

In the beginning of the consultation, Karin reviews the completed Questionnaire during the first half hour of the session. Then proceeds to addressing the specific behavior issues identified by the owners (e.g. barking, biting, chewing, and jumping up) as well as the owners' actions and reactions to the behaviors. Karin provides training techniques, tips and advice on how to modify those behaviors, along with demonstrations and handouts.

In addition, Karin will discuss training and communication basics, as well as training techniques, tips and advice on your daily routine and how to enhance your communication and relationship, which will improve your dogs' behavior.

After the consultation, Karin follows up with an email listing the training homework recommended, as well as any additional reference material and images of recommended products/training tools.
